Just recently Lindsay Lohan was named artistic advisor of Emanuel Ungaro’s French fashion house. Which obviously is a publicity move on the fashion house’s part. However, in the position Lohan basically works with and oversees designer Estrella Archs. With her new position also comes new ventures, Lohan debuted her first collection at Paris fashion week just last Sunday.
Paris is known for its innovative fashion reputation, giving the world names like Chanel, Balenciaga, and Yves Saint Laurent. Now its showcasing Lindsay Lohan. What would you expect? According to E! Online News, “Everyone expected a total disaster”. And Lindsay gave “everyone” just what they “expected”.
The collection didn’t show a bit of good taste it lacked all of the essence that a Paris runway show should have. It was not sophisticated or elegant at all. It was reminiscent of what Style.com called “bad eighties”. It consisted of draped silk jackets, drop crotch pants, and of course sequin pasties. In a time where consumers are looking for classic pieces that will last a while, the line showed to be very dated.
Although the show seemed to be a flop, the reviews of the show claimed to feel sorry for Lindsay. Reviews from sources like Telegraph, the LA times, and WWD didn’t hold back from gutting Lohan and her collection but also offered up “to be fair” statements. One of the statements referred to the fact that designer Arches only had a month to design the collection.
Sadly enough most were expecting a train wreck from Lohan but in my opinion the line wasn’t horrible. The color combinations for some outfits were definitely off and many of the looks showed to be too revealing, but some of the pieces weren’t so bad. However, if I were Lindsay I wouldn’t have used Paris fashion week to debut my first collection, it wasn’t the right place for her. I hope this was a good learning experience for her and maybe we will start to see her grow as an “artistic advisor”.

Yeah, I liked some of the pieces too but, I feel like she put together something that was really common or generic. It had no real personal flair or artistic license to it. Just because you like clothes doesn't mean you can be an "artistic adivisor".
ReplyDeleteLindsay Lohan is one of the biggest dissapointments ever. She is so young and is a very talented girl, but she is running herself into the ground. I would not place her as the artistic advisor of anything because she can not be trusted and I don't think she is very dependable either. She used to be my favorite, but she has been replaced with Dakota.
ReplyDeleteGo figure, Who woulda thought?
